My Work
Zen Crafted pottery is created using traditional methods more than 20,000 years old. While they are organic in nature and design there is a sophistication and elegance to each piece. Zen Crafted pottery reflects my life philosophy and focus on development of individual and collective consciousness. Working with clay and making pottery is a meditation practice. My hope is that each piece of pottery will take with it a reflection of that practice into the home and family of the user. Based in South Gippsland, I work from a beautiful rustic studio atop our hill with spectacular views to Wilson’s Prom and beyond. I am inspired every day by the constant movement of nature that surrounds me. I love the experience of working with clay, the textures and colours, from white stoneware through biscuit colours to black. My clays are selected premium quality clays, including my favourite Scarva imported from Ireland. Zen Crafted tableware is high-fired, food safe and dishwasher safe, but not recommended for microwaves. The Homewares products are not guaranteed food safe. |
My Life
I grew up in Melbourne, but I have travelled the world extensively and lived overseas for several years in Papua New Guinea, Taiwan and Hong Kong. My travels have complemented my lifelong interest in human culture, thought and behaviour leading to my strong focus on understanding human consciousness - my own and all those around me. As I travelled, I also pursued my interest in painting and ceramics and have studied and exhibited in various countries, resulting in a particular and unique approach to my art. Once I settled in Gippsland, I became involved in wildlife care and I have spent almost 20 years as a carer of orphaned Australian wildlife, including possums, kangaroos and wallabies, but with a particular love for wombats, such extraordinary creatures. As my personal development became more focused on consciousness, I explored the energetic nature of the world and became a qualified kinesiologist and energy healer. All of these diverse influences have become infused in my daily living and working in which I strive to bring consciousness to all I do and share that with all creatures around me. |
